Hello hello!

Congratulations, you have just opened a top class compilation featuring some of the sharpest, wittiest and most side-splitting young adults in Ireland. Who needs self-help books when you have your hot hands on this cutting edge material? Prepare for your mind to open.

After hours of reading and weeks of voting by SpunOutters of all stripes, these 20 articles rang in as the Most Memorable of 2008.

Now it must be said... (Warning: slight cheesy factor approaching.) I strapped into the driver’s seat of Youth Participation with SpunOut.ie in April 2008. I didn’t know what to expect, I hadn’t a clue what I was getting into.

As a kid, or rather a muddied hands and bruised knees tomboy, I had a passion for climbing trees. Any size, any shape, any conditions - I just went for it; up, up and away. It was always fun no matter what.

As I’ve hopped on the SpunOut tree so to speak, sensed the strong roots and playfully swayed with the many branches of young people that give SpunOut.ie its rich shape and substance, I’ve been wowed away! I’m still working my way up and out and I don’t think I’ll ever reach the top, but the view from where I’m at already is stunning.(Note: End of cheesy factor.)

I would like to give a riotous round of applause to the many SpunOutters that I’ve had the privilege of getting to know in 2008. Your daily emails and texts make me laugh, sigh, cry and really think. You are honest, real and expressive. That cocktail makes for this potent mix of writing featured here.

To all the writers featured here, and the many others who contribute their energies in countless ways - on behalf of the SpunOut.ie Team, we’d like to say - THANK YOU! YOU ROCK!

Now enough of me already, let the youth speak! Sit back, relax and lighten up. Enjoy!
