BLOG: Xmas wishes from the SpunOut Crew
Happy happy happy Christmas!
Tis the season to be (what ever you want it to be)! And while you’re deciding on that, here are a few words from the fine people who keep the SpunOut show on the road…

2010 seemed to be all about crisis. It kicked off with icy roads then into a volcano exploding and then all the turmoil of the political and economic systems with more recent new crises regarding snow storm turmoil and scandals in the church, RTE, and governments worldwide. What a year! All of this has caused upset, confusion and fear, which is why it's so important for people to rally together, to work in community, and to stand up for what's right. It is my hope that in 2011 we see some of the dust settle (literally) and for people to really realise their power in making a difference in the world. SpunOut.ie has huge plans for 2011 and we'll be getting bigger, bolder and louder and making sure young people get the right info, support and opportunities in changing our world. We are ready to rock and we hope you can join us in our mission.
What about the holly jolly season makes you laugh (secretly or like an exploding Christmas cracker)?
It cracks me up the way people get so stressed out about Christmas. All the fussing about presents, money, drinking, family politics, Jesus etc. I think it's daft. Whatever the roots of Christmas - Christian or Pagan - it certainly wasn't about stress. I'm not gonna stress it and will be kicking back on my bum, watching movies, hanging with family and walking in the bright winter sun.

Hello everyone and here’s wishing you a lovely Christmas. It’s been a strange year for Ireland and everyone living here, so I hope the holidays provide you with an opportunity to live the moment you’re in and to relax and cast aside any worries you might have. I’ll be raising a mince pie to the whole SpunOut.ie community whilst lazing at the fire!

The speed at which we all tumble back into our childhood family roles. Anyone up for a fight over the dishes and TV channels?!

2010 welcomed a lot of new eyes to SpunOut.ie (we hit over a quarter of a million unique visitors to the site) and with great numbers comes even greater responsibility (to quote Spiderman's uncle). If anything, SpunOut.ie has added to the good bits with great competitions, interesting and informative content and a diverse online community with infinite opinions. It all bodes well for an exciting 2011!

The RTE Guide. There's something about the Christmas edition. Maybe it's because when I was younger we never bothered to buy it at any other time of the year. After all we only had three channels! Haha. Weird.

I’m actually not a fan of Christmas at all, have always been more of a Halloween kinda girl. It’s weird getting gifts from family members I never talk to and the whole thing just has a plastic fakeness to it, like pop music and pleather combined. I’d be happy out to get the fam and friends together to just hang out and enjoy each other’s company without all the pretenses of shopping, decorating, overly elaborate meals, etc. Simple pleasures are what it’s all about, and I hope you and yours are lapping it up, along with a few decadent treats and sweets!

My little bro and I revel in everyone else’s bad Christmas moods. Sounds awful actually putting that in words, but it’s so true. We sent my mom over the holly jolly edge already this year by playing Marvin Gaye’s Greatest Hits while decorating the Xmas tree and hiding the star and instead topping it with a cowboy hat. Santa would not want everyone taking things so seriously!

Happy Happy Happy Christmas to all the SpunOut.ie ers..... This has been my first year here in the HQ and I love it, what with all the super positive keen people working hard to do some good and Eoghan revolutionising our coffee breaks after discovering that a French bakery near us sells yesterday's cakes and buns in big bags for a Euro!! Seriously!! And here's a happy Christmas wish to all the witty clever people posting on our website and Facebook and out and about on the streets at all the demos and things, and I hope this year will be one for all of us to really get stuck into putting our imaginations to work to fix broken things ...

Christmas.....I love it, for me it means books and more books and also trying to get as near to the fire as I possibly can without actually singeing myself. In our house (I'm from a big big big family) it usually involves the same stupid/ funny/ totally untrue/ exaggerated/ stories being told over and over again and we're a bunch of smart alecs so you can be sure that some of the worst quips and back answers will be recorded in our brains to include in next year’s stories. Funny thing is we never fight at Christmas - unless someone steals the book we're in the middle of...

(Must have got lost at the French bakery (see above)… but we’re sure he’s wishing you lovely Christmas wishes!)

Enjoy the season of goodwill, a dollop of downtime, a sprinkle of partying and a good catch up with friends and family!

Watching my brothers’ face moments before we do our annual Christmas dip... priceless!

Happy Crimbo to one and all. May you have a fantastic Crimbo and a great 2011. 2010 has been a stressful year for many people, what with everything from the weather to the recession putting a dampener on things. Still, you never know what’s around the corner.
2011 may turn out to be a great year!
My house is always packed for Christmas, what with all my siblings and their partners and associated aunts or uncles. There’s never an empty chair or bed in our house, so it gets quite hectic.

Trading Places. My late father used to love to watch it so I watch it in homage to him every year. It’s a cracker of a comedy.
REMEMBER: The SpunOut Forum is a 24/7 operation. So, if the fam is driving you nuts, you’re missing your bf/gf, the weather has you stressed, or you’ve simply had enough of Christmas telly, stop on by for a chat!
