Academy of Activism 2011 roundup
Blog: Videos and pics from this year's Academy of Activism.
SpunOut.ie’s second annual Academy of Activism was held in June, with 14 young people from across the country attending an intensive weekend of training, inspirational talks and hot debate and discussions. The weekend was inspirational, energising and full to bursting with views and experiences on making a difference in the world around you.

So, what did the participants have to say about the weekend? Find out in this video:
“AMAZING. This is the stuff I live for. You can quote me on that, Gives me hope and faith and strength. So exciting, interesting, inspiring and Exhausting.”
‘’I’m going home more motivated and energised than ever to change the world in my own small way with the support of SpunOut.ie and the people I met behind me.’’
“It was one of the best if not THE best courses I’ve ever done, made me feel like I could make a difference and like no issue is too small to fight for.”
“’It’s great to be around and discuss issues with likeminded people from different backgrounds. It was good to see and hear from such a wide variety of invited speakers’.”
“‘Inspirational, thought provoking fun friendly and every other wonderful word I cannot think of.’’
“Learned more than I could have imagined – got a taste for a bit of everything can now go away and research the most interesting issues, learned skills and techniques. How to put yourself out there. It was empowering and inspiring. Couldn’t have been better.’”
“Motivated me massively, can’t wait to get out there - raring to go.”
‘’I was treated like a prince, I think it was fantastic and would recommend anyone get involved’’

About the Academy of Activism 2011
In June 2011 SpunOut.ie hosted its second Academy of Activism. The intensive weekend training course was aimed at young people with a passion for social justice, between the ages of 18 and 25, who are interested in learning how they can make a difference in the world. It was a practical, free of charge training opportunity that, in 2011, was attended by fourteen young people.
The course was tailor-made to equip participants with the skills, confidence and motivation to set about working for positive social change in their communities. The sessions also gave participants an opportunity to engage directly with politicians and to hear from inspirational activists.
